The Selfie that Started it All

Sunday February 17th started it all. I took a selfie and posted it on my finstagram (fake instagram) with this caption.

1. How compassionate our amazing God is

2. Being blessed by a man who looked like James Charles in church 😍

3. Silly kids singing praise the dot instead of praise the Lord

I feel great! Oh I feel so great!! 🤗

Obviously it was not super deep (I’m looking at you point number two) but still, I wanted to share with my friends what I was thankful for that day. And so it started! On March 3rd I posted a second Selfie Sunday saying more things I was thankful for. I also added a few things that I felt were important to work on that week!

Happy selfie Sunday #2 my dear friends!! - - Things we are thankful for today: 1) the beautiful sun shining down ☀️😁🤗 2) the Sunday school kids singing Praise the Lord 3) how amazing Jesus’ humility and love for us is!! - - Things to work on this week: 1) getting rid of the me-first attitude 2) balancing life now that tracktice is starting 3) finding a new skincare routine - How can I help you?

The whole point of these Selfie Sundays were to share the AMAZING message I received from church that morning! So, I continued to share things I was thankful for and things that I felt I needed to work on.

It was not until Selfie number 15 that I actually started sharing the sermon message deeper than just one point that I was thankful for.

What’s hip hop happening party people?! Happy selfie Sunday #15 - - Today we are thankful for: 1) how beautiful the trees in full bloom are 😍😍 2) plant nanny making me pee 24/7 3) God planting the seed of faith in us! - - Gardening isn’t the easiest thing in the world. I pretty much kill every plant I touch. Thankfully I am not the gardener of my faith. God planted the seed in me and gives me the Word as a fertilizer. Staying in the word helps the roots of faith grow stronger and stronger every day!! I pray that this summer your roots grow well 💛 - - Things to work on this week: 1) staying in touch with everyone! Just because school is out doesn’t mean I don’t want to see you people!! Come over and we can just chill and tell each other life stories 2) READING!! I want to do my best to not stay on my phone 24/7 this summer! Who wants to make a trip to half price books? 3) doing devotions! I’ve said this multiple times but I really really need to work on it now that I don’t have religion class everyday - - Hope the first few days of summer are treating you well and a huge congratulations to all the seniors! ❤️

To date I have posted 21 Selfie Sundays and each one has gotten longer and longer! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE sharing these posts on my finsta! But there were a couple things that were bugging me.

1) If I was just sharing these messages on a private Instagram, was I really branching out to share my faith? Or was I just staying in a bubble of friends who I know believe the same things?

2) As these posts got longer on Instagram, how many people were really taking the time to read them? Was I wasting my time posting these?

I decided that I wanted the opportunity to share my posts with more people! And thus, the idea of a blog was born. Actually starting a blog is terrifying. It is easy to be bombarded by thoughts of it COMPLETELY failing and being a waste of time. And there definitely IS a chance that this blog will be a total FLOP but, I'm excited to try it out and to use a different platform to share my faith with you!
